Natural Product Chemistry

MerLion Research has an experienced team of natural product isolation chemists who are experts in the isolation and structure elucidation of active components from complex mixtures. In addition to identifying new chemistry from screening hits, the group also engages in third party projects directed at identifying and enriching active components from known samples of interest. This work has yielded a number of patent filings and new product opportunities for MerLion’s clients.
 
Analytical instrumentation available within the company includes:

• 500MHz NMR
• QToF Mass Spec for high resolution MS and quantification
• uPLC-coupled single quadrupole Mass Spec for extract profiling/fingerprinting
• Ion trap Mass Spec for dereplication

Together with a full range of purification technologies, these factors have helped reduce average times for the isolation and structure elucidation of bioactive compounds to just a few weeks.
