MerLion has assembled one of the largest and most diverse natural product collections available for screening. The collection comprises over 300,000 extracts derived from over 129,000 living microbial strains and 38,750 plant specimens sourced from more than 100 countries. The genetic diversity within the MerLion collection is exceptional. With 57% of all known cultured fungal genera, over 67% of the world's plant families and 70% of filamentous bacterial genera represented, the collection has been described as "the most diverse and comprehensive collection of plant and microbial samples in the world" (Prof Geoffrey A.
