Background: MerLion routinely uses a combination of traditional macro- and microscopic taxonomic techniques and state-of-the-art PCR/sequencing methodologies to determine the identity of microorganisms of interest and their relationship to other species.
Service Details: Microorganisms will be sub-cultured, cryo- preserved and characterised by using microbiological and molecular biology techniques. Specifically, bacteria will be characterised using 16S rRNA PCR/sequencing whilst fungi will be characterised using D2 rRNA PCR-Sequencing.
Deliverable: Written report and cryo-preserved strains.
