Service Details: Chemical Fingerprinting is a way of rapidly profiling a natural product sample to determine its chemical composition. This provides a rapid system for performing QC and standardisation on raw ingredients or natural extract preparations. Similarity scores using combinations of UV, ELSD and mass spectroscopy data give a measure of sample likeness and the abundance of specific components can be quantified.
Samples can be analysed by Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) coupled to UV, ELSD and MS detectors to generate unique chemical profiles, or “fingerprints”, which can be used to compare sample quality and composition versus that of standard samples. The analysis is performed with the aid of proprietary algorithms which allow accurate and reproducible comparison of samples analysed on different test occasions. Chemical fingerprint data are stored within the MerLion proprietary fingerprinting database which can be searched for compounds of specific interest based on mass, UV signatures and retention times.
Deliverable: Written report containing processed data.
