MerLion Research has used its proprietary UPLC/MS/UV/ELSD chemical fingerprinting technology to identify the most chemically diverse and productive samples from its Natural Product Collections. Extracts from the best 80 ‘Super Producer’ strains from the Actinomycete and Fungal collections have been pre-fractionated by reversed phase HPLC into 20 fractions per extract and arrayed within microtitre plates for easy biological testing. The resulting Supersets, each comprising 1,600 enriched and semi-purified fractions, represent high quality focused screening libraries with excellent coverage of actinomycete and fungal secondary metabolite chemistry in comparatively few screening wells, making natural product screening accessible to all researchers and budgets.
